Street Sweeping
To find out when your street will be swept, click on one of the links below:
Streets are swept from April 1 – November 15, weather permitting. Sweepers work Monday through Friday; every block in the 12th Ward is swept once every six weeks.

Colored temporary signs are posted on your block, a different color for every different day of the week that a street cleaning is taking place. The signs go up one business day before your street is swept. Trucks sweep one side of your street the first day, then the opposite side the next business day.
To avoid parking tickets, the side of the street to be swept should remain clear of vehicles from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Move your car or you may be ticketed or towed. Removal of orange temporary signs can result in a $100 fine.
Help Street Sweepers! Do not blow leaves into the street in the fall. Leaf piles in the street cause equipment problems and prevent trucks from cleaning your street properly. Dispose of leaves in blue bags—anyone seen dumping leaves in the street can receive a ticket and fine of up to $100.
From mid-November to April it is occasionally possible to sweep streets. Orange temporary signs will be posted to inform you if any sweeping or other street repair work will be taking place.
